Low or No Cost Eye Care Programs

EyeCare America provides eye care to U.S. citizens and legal residents age 65 and older through volunteer ophthalmologists. These ophthalmologists provide a medical eye exam for low or no cost, and up to one year of follow-up care for any condition diagnosed during the initial exam.

Eye Drops Prescription Assistance

Lucentis Access Solutions assists patients who need access to Lucentis medication and assists them with health insurance coverage and reimbursement issues. Lucentis is used to treat patients with wet age-related macular degeneration, macular edema following retinal vein occlusion, diabetic macular edema, diabetic retinopathy and myopic choroidal neovascularization.

Blind Low Vision Assistance Senior Transportation

Rides in Sight is a national organization that provides senior transportation options. The Ride in Sight Hotline is available Monday-Friday from 7:00AM-7:00PM Central Time. Their operators are available to answer questions regarding senior transportation and options for those with visual impairments.

The National Federation of the Blind’s Senior Division is a learning, peer support group whose goal is to reach out to other seniors experiencing vision loss and to empower each senior to use the talents and abilities they already possess and to learn effective strategies for living independently and acquiring a positive attitude about living with limited vision.

Low Vision Technology Accessibility

A program of the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at UCI Health, Macular Degeneration Partnership (MDP) is an outreach effort to those affected by age-related macular degeneration (AMD). They provide information and resources for living with AMD.

Healthcare Coverage Services

Medicare Part A covers inpatient hospital stays, care in a skilled nursing facility, hospice care, and some health care. Part B covers doctor services, outpatient hospital care, home health care. If you have a medical diagnosis and need glasses, Medicare will cover that expense.
